Dawn Patrol in Kid Kelp won the Telly Award in the Children's Audience catagory at the 30th Annual Telly Awards.

THE DAWN OF A NEW DAY! SPECIAL EDITION DVD BARRELS AHEAD!

Dawn Patrol, the original O'Plenty surf cartoon, will be featured on a new special limited edition DVD. Coming this fall, Dawn Patrol in Kid Kelp will include Bonus Features: Kelpumentary, a multimedia look at the mysteries of kelp, Pencil Surfin', chronicles the making of the cartoon, Concept&Design, a behind-the-scenes short with developmental artwork and animation. VILPPU VISITS O'PLENTY

World-renowned artist and life drawing instructor, GLENN VILPPU, gave the animators of O'Plenty a fantastic week-and-a-half drawing, layout, and storyboard seminar. O'PLENTY & THE NJAC HOST 3rd EXCLUSIVE GALA!

New York City, NY - O'Plenty Animation and The New Jersey Animation Council, LLC hosted the 3rd Gala Benefit for The Center in Asbury Park at the exclusive nightspot, CAIN, in NYC. Celebrities from Animation, Film, Sports, and Music joined forces to raise money and awareness for families stricken with HIV/AIDS. Point Pleasant, NJ - O'Plenty animation recently completed the fully animated music video No good w/o the bad.The video boasts stirring visuals and reflects the influence of modern day comics, anime and martial arts flicks. Superstar TM Stevens has planned to open the concerts of his upcoming world tour with the big screen showing of the video. TM Stevens' record and management companies plan to release the video internationally on broadcast music stations soon after the tour. Watch your local video channels for this new production!

ONE ZILLION VALENTINES RELEASED ON SCHOLASTIC VIDEO

Scholastic announced the release of More Holiday Stories video collection, available for schools and libraries. The lead title of the compillation is the O'Plenty production, One Zillion Valentines.

Newly completed projects include a national commercial for Olsen Twins GameBoy Advanced Pocket Planner(see right), a cartoon for Academy Award® Winner Danny Aiello called The Adventures of Papa Gator, and an animated short film (docu-mation) based on the work of legendary beat-writer Paul Bowles titled Baptism of Solitude. O’PLENTY FOUNDER, CHRIS LARSON, WINS TIME OUT NEW YORK AWARD FOR BEST NEW YORK FILMMAKER!
NEW YORK CITY-At a ceremony held at The NYU Cantor Film Center in Manhattan, O’Plenty Animation’s Executive Producer, Chris Larson, was presented with the TIME OUT NEW YORK AWARD for BEST NEW YORK FILMMAKER. The awards reception was the culmination of the 2000 NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL, a two week-long event that featured screenings and guest speakers from around the world. The festival’s board of directors include Anthony Edwards, Chevy Chase, Ethan Coen, Linda Ellerbee, Spike Lee, Madonna, and Gus Van Sant. The O’Plenty production, OFFICER BUCKLE & GLORIA (Scholastic/Weston Woods), was screened in competition and was selected by audience members as the best animated short for tots.

The TIME OUT NEW YORK AWARD was presented by TIME OUT NEW YORK MAGAZINE.

Celebrated animation veteran, GEORGE DAVIS, has come on board O’Plenty Animation Studio. He brings over 40 years of motion picture industry experience and a unique brand of camera wizardry. Mr. DAVIS will supervise O’Plenty’s Animation Camera Department, and serve as Commercial & Series Production Consultant. His astounding resumé of credits include notable movies, series, commercials, documentaries, and revolutionary developments in opticals.

GEORGE DAVIS began his career as the protégé of PAUL TERRY. At TERRYTOONS, he headed up the camera department and worked on such classic cartoons as the original MIGHTY MOUSE, HECKLE & JECKLE, and TOM TERRIFIC (for CAPTAIN KANGAROO). He was the originator of CINEMASCOPE for use in animated films at TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX STUDIOS. Mr. DAVIS worked on many classic animated shorts with such filmmakers as GENE DEITCH, R.O. BLECHMAN, ERNIE PINTOFF, and JULES PFEIFFER. At HAL SEEGAR STUDIOS, he worked on the BAT FINK series and shot and directed numerous commercials for PEPSI, DODGE, the PIEL’S brothers, FANTA, and DISNEY, among others. At his own studio, GDL STUDIO, INC., he did the opening for the Oscar-winning film, AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS, for producer MIKE TODD,JR. He also worked on the animated series BLACK HAWK, THE MIGHTY HERCULES, and started the bible series, TALES FROM THE GREAT BOOK. He’s best known for his involvement in the timeless SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK series of educational shorts (originally aired on ABC in the 1970’s), for which he garnered many industry awards.

Mr. Davis’ live-action credits are equally sensational: ANNIE HALL, A SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM, ALTERED STATES, DON’T TELL MOM THE BABYSITTER’S DEAD, to name a few. He also shot several important documentaries including SINGER, THE MAN, CONEY ISLAND, STYLE WARS, WALKER EVANS, TWO KOREAS, NEW YORK, and THE WEST.

GEORGE DAVIS has won two EMMY’S, been nominated for two OSCARS, has won the ART DIRECTORS AWARDS, four ASIFA awards, and an endless line of international film festival awards.
