THE DAWN OF A NEW DAY! SPECIAL EDITION DVD BARRELS AHEAD! Dawn Patrol, the original O'Plenty surf cartoon, will be featured on a new special limited edition DVD. Coming this fall, Dawn Patrol in Kid Kelp will include Bonus Features: Kelpumentary, a multimedia look at the mysteries of kelp, Pencil Surfin', chronicles the making of the cartoon, Concept&Design, a behind-the-scenes short with developmental artwork and animation. VILPPU VISITS O'PLENTY World-renowned artist and life drawing instructor, GLENN VILPPU, gave the animators of O'Plenty a fantastic week-and-a-half drawing, layout, and storyboard seminar. BASH! New York City, NY - O'Plenty Animation and The New Jersey Animation Council, LLC hosted the 3rd Gala Benefit for The Center in Asbury Park at the exclusive nightspot, CAIN, in NYC. Celebrities from Animation, Film, Sports, and Music joined forces to raise money and awareness for families stricken with HIV/AIDS. ACTION/ANIMATION MIX FOR MUSIC VIDEO From its humble beginnings at a tiny storefront in West End, Long Branch, to its current home at the beautiful Bayshores region of Point Pleasant, O'Plenty Animation wishes to acknowledge all the people, places and events that have helped shape our success! Millions of drawings and plenty 'o projects after its birth in 1995, the studio continues to grow. Talented artists now bring fantastic ideas to life in the newly re-designed and fully-equipped 3,500 sq ft facility. Whether by tablet, touchscreen, or good old pencil and paper, O'Plenty will always stay true to its roots in quality traditional character animation. ONE ZILLION VALENTINES RELEASED ON SCHOLASTIC VIDEO Scholastic announced the release of More Holiday Stories video collection, available for schools and libraries. The lead title of the compillation is the O'Plenty production, One Zillion Valentines.
Point Pleasant, NJ OPlentys recent slate of animation remains eclectic as ever! Newly completed projects include a national commercial for Olsen Twins GameBoy Advanced Pocket Planner(see right), a cartoon for Academy Award® Winner Danny Aiello called The Adventures of Papa Gator, and an animated short film (docu-mation) based on the work of legendary beat-writer Paul Bowles titled Baptism of Solitude. GEORGE DAVIS began his career as the protégé of PAUL TERRY. At TERRYTOONS, he headed up the camera department and worked on such classic cartoons as the original MIGHTY MOUSE, HECKLE & JECKLE, and TOM TERRIFIC (for CAPTAIN KANGAROO). He was the originator of CINEMASCOPE for use in animated films at TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX STUDIOS. Mr. DAVIS worked on many classic animated shorts with such filmmakers as GENE DEITCH, R.O. BLECHMAN, ERNIE PINTOFF, and JULES PFEIFFER. At HAL SEEGAR STUDIOS, he worked on the BAT FINK series and shot and directed numerous commercials for PEPSI, DODGE, the PIELS brothers, FANTA, and DISNEY, among others. At his own studio, GDL STUDIO, INC., he did the opening for the Oscar-winning film, AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS, for producer MIKE TODD,JR. He also worked on the animated series BLACK HAWK, THE MIGHTY HERCULES, and started the bible series, TALES FROM THE GREAT BOOK. Hes best known for his involvement in the timeless SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK series of educational shorts (originally aired on ABC in the 1970s), for which he garnered many industry awards. Mr. Davis live-action credits are equally sensational: ANNIE HALL, A SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM, ALTERED STATES, DONT TELL MOM THE BABYSITTERS DEAD, to name a few. He also shot several important documentaries including SINGER, THE MAN, CONEY ISLAND, STYLE WARS, WALKER EVANS, TWO KOREAS, NEW YORK, and THE WEST. GEORGE DAVIS has won two EMMYS, been nominated for two OSCARS, has won the ART DIRECTORS AWARDS, four ASIFA awards, and an endless line of international film festival awards. |
